About TheFixPrice
Hiring a contractor should not feel like a gamble. But for most homeowners, it does: three quotes, three wildly different numbers, and no way to know which one is fair.
TheFixPrice exists to fix that. We are an independent publisher of home project cost guides and free calculators, built on a simple idea: if you know what a job should cost before anyone knocks on your door, you negotiate from strength.
What we publish
- Cost guides for roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, remodeling, flooring, and painting, broken down by material, project size, and the factors that actually move prices.
- Free interactive calculators that adjust estimates by state, because a roof in California and a roof in Ohio are not the same job.
- State level cost pages built on real local labor data, not national averages with a find-and-replace state name.
How we research
Our figures start from 2026 national contractor pricing data, then get adjusted by state labor indexes, material tiers, and project complexity. Every guide carries a visible updated date, and we refresh our numbers quarterly. When we do not know something, we say so plainly instead of guessing.
What we are not
We are not a lead marketplace. We do not sell your information to five contractors, we do not call you after you use a calculator, and we do not rank “recommended pros” who paid for placement. Our revenue comes from advertising and affiliate partnerships, which we disclose openly on every page.
Who is behind it
TheFixPrice was founded by Mike Reynolds, who spends his days researching what home projects really cost across America: talking to contractors, digging through pricing data, and turning it into guides a normal person can actually use.
